The Maldivian ministry of fisheries and agriculture has extended the moratorium on reef shark fishing to cover the whole of the Maldives, as part of a historic move towards a total ban on both reef and oceanic shark hunting

Richard Rees represented the MWSRP in Brussels as a member of the conservation coallition the Shark Alliance. Representatives of the Alliance from all over the world were there to welcome an essential milestone in the conservation of European Shark, ray and chimera populations - the European Community Plan of Action for Sharks.
