The first 2 and a half days are sharky!
13th December 2009
The team, consisting of Adam Harman, Ben Fothergill, Rachel Bott and Vikki White, loaded the research vessel on the morning of the 10th December and got straight to work in the afternoon, encountering the first two sharks of the December/January research trip.
A further twelve sharks were encountered over the next two days, with the help of volunteers: Nick and Anne-Marie.
Of the twelve, four sharks were previously tagged individuals and one was WS065 'Ayesha' (one of only four females in the Maldivian database, and the only female encountered for nearly twelve months).
The next few weeks promise to be a busy period and the team hopes that the sharky waters continue.
A huge thank you to Nick and Anne-Marie for their help in the water and on the boat, for helping to raise awareness and for their generous donation to the MWSRP.
