The Largest Whale Shark Tag and Release Project, Globally, is completed in three weeks.
2nd May 2009
Twenty tags (ten satelite and ten archival - please visit http://www.maldiveswhalesharkresearch.org/tagging/ for more info), were attached to a total of seventeen sharks.
Three sharks have both types of tags attached to them.
Exciting data from last years pilot project is already being analyzed making for some exciting discoveries of migratory paths. All tagged sharks have returned to the Maldives asking the question, "Are they a resident Maldivian population?".
