Boat strikes are becoming more frequent
21st April 2009
WS071 ‘Fernaando', the most inquisitive shark known to the MWSRP team, last encountered, by the MWSRP, on December 12th 2008, and named after a past crew member for his playful nature, previously only missed the top of his second dorsal fin. He now displays horrific scars on his left flank which can only be a result of a boat strike.
WS078 ‘Qasim' displays very similar scars to Fernaando.
WS046 ‘Jordan' has deep gill net scars on his right side.
WS067 ‘Joey', the good news- he is alive and seems to be swimming well. The bad news- his first dorsal being ninety five percent removed back in May 2008.
