MWSRP hosts 'Whale Shark Awareness' presentation in Male

Attendees included officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Oceanographic Society Maldives, the Marine Research Centre (MRC), and various tour operators. All pledged their support for the cause and welcomed plans for a tour operator training and accredition scheme. The training is designed to reduce boat strikes and will include education of whale shark biology, their habitat, vessel postioning when approaching a whale shark, and how to safely encounter a whale shark.
