Boat strikes are becoming more frequent

The first four sharks encountered today displayed horrific scars as a result of human interaction. April 2009's tagging project hopes to discover the Maldivian whale sharks movements enabling more protection.
104th Individual Shark found on the outside of Sun Island Reef

A new 5 metre, male individual was found cruising the reef outside Sun Island, in the South Ari Atoll.
MWSRP hosts 'Whale Shark Awareness' presentation in Male

The meeting, in association with the Liveaboard Association and Dive Association Maldives, and presented by Richard Rees (MWSRP), and Dr Brent Stewart (Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute), was a great success with a good attendance (especially as the Maldivian National Football Team were playing at the same time).
